How it works
The Teledyne API Chemiluminescence Nitrogen Oxides NOx Analyser (T200) analyser uses the chemiluminescence detection principle to allow accurate and dependable low-level measurements for use as an ambient analyser or dilution CEMS monitor.
Chemiluminescence detectors work by using chemical reactions involving nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) that produce light. In chemiluminescence analysers, a type of sensor called a thermally stabilised photodiode is used to measure how bright the light is when NO reacts with ozone (O₃). The brightness of this light is directly linked to the amount of NO that has changed into NO₂ through the reaction.
By changing the NO₂ in the gas into NO and then reacting it with O₃, total amount of NOx present can be determined. This helps to distinguish NO, NO₂, and total NOx using just one analyser.
