How it works
The GLA331-CCIA2 Carbon Dioxide Isotope Analyser EP Rackmount provides simultaneous and continuous measurements of delta-13-carbon, delta-18-oxygen in carbon dioxide and carbon dioxide concentration in gas samples ranging from trace concentrations to percent levels.
Built on the heritage and extensive track record of Los Gatos Research analysers, using patented Off-Axis Integrated Cavity Output Spectroscopy (OA-ICOS) technology, the latest evolution in tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy.
Isotopic analysis of carbon dioxide allows determination of transport, uptake, residence time, sequestration, and depletion modes of carbon dioxide throughout the atmosphere and biosphere. Carbon dioxide is a particularly useful gas for this type of analysis because of its presence in the metabolic processes of living organisms as well as being a by-product of combustion processes.
When making isotopic carbon dioxide measurements, scientists require:
- accurate measurements over a wide range of mole fractions
- high precision
- ability to report reliable values even if mixing ratios are rapidly changing, – portability
- user-friendly interface
- low drift
- insensivity to H₂S, NH₃, as well as methane and other hydrocarbons.
The GLA331-CCIA2 Carbon Dioxide Isotope Analyser EP Rackmount meets all of the above requirements. In addition, the availability of many value-added options extends the abilities of these units to include discrete samples (collected in bags or vials) and to automatically handle multiple inlet sources.
The Enhanced Performance (EP) series incorporates proprietary internal thermal control for ultra-stable measurements with unsurpassed precision, accuracy and drift. It provides reliable guaranteed measurements at mole fractions more than 20 times ambient levels.
The GLA331-CCIA2 incorporates patented Off-Axis Integrated Cavity Output Spectroscopy (OA-ICOS) technology, a fourth-generation advancement over conventional Cavity Ringdown Spectroscopy (CRDS), offer numerous advantages. This includes insensitive to alignment, shorter measurement times, independence from stringent cavity pressure and temperature control, and elimination of costly and power-intensive auxiliary components.
The analyser features an onboard computer capable of storing data almost indefinitely on its internal hard drive, which is useful for prolonged unattended operation, while simultaneously transmitting real-time data to a data logger via analog and digital (RS232) outputs. Optional enhancements further improve response time, facilitate multiple inlet sources, and enable remote access and control via the Internet.
