How it works

As carbon monoxide (CO) is a reliable tracer of anthropogenic emissions, simultaneous measurement of CO and nitrous oxide (N₂O) allows scientists to establish correlations between their emission sources.The GLA151-N2OCM Nitrous Oxide & Carbon Monoxide (QC) portable analyser offers the added benefit of simultaneously measuring water vapour mole fraction and as a result, the analyser provides reports of N₂O and CO on a dry mole basis. This compensates for water vapour dilution and absorption line broadening effects, without the need for sample drying or empirical corrections.

The LGR-ICOS gas analysers build on the heritage and proven track record of Los Gatos Research analysers, incorporating patented Off-Axis Integrated Cavity Output Spectroscopy (OA-ICOS) Technology. This is the latest advancement in tuneable diode laser absorption technology. 

The GLA151-N2OCM analyser has been designed for use in various field applications as it has an extensive track record in trace-gas air quality monitoring and chamber flux measurements, where prevision, accuracy, durability and mobility are paramount.

Patented OA-ICOS technology from ABB —a fourth-generation cavity enhanced absorption method—the GLA151-N2OCM analyser outperforms older conventional cavity ringdown spectroscopy and direct absorption techniques. OA-ICOS analysers offer simplified operation, enhanced ruggedness, and minimal zero and span drift, thereby reducing the frequency of calibration with costly reference gases. Consequently, this analyser delivers superior performance and reliability with minimal operational costs.

The analyser is equipped with an internal computer which is capable of near-indefinite data storage. Therefore the GLA151-N2OCM is well-suited for applications that require extended unattended operation. Additionally, it facilitates real-time data transmission to a data logger, while also including comprehensive control and analysis software.
